Blog Post #1

Being a freshman in college is a lot like being a freshman in high-school. You are forced to step outside of your comfort zone and transition to a lifestyle different from the one you are accustomed to. It feels different being away from your parents and understanding that every decision you make has an even bigger impact on your life.UTOP is a program designed to aid in the transition from high-school to college and also help you build bonds and connections that will last a lot longer than the 5 week program. From the course English 1101 I expect to learn how to better revise and reflect on my writing, and also understanding how my writing has an effect on my environment as a whole. I can improve my writing by understanding how to better structure and revise it. My strengths in writing are my passion and also my motivation to express myself. The writing assignment I am most proud about is a poem I wrote in 9th grade about America called "Is it just a flag". In order for me to make UTOP and this course successful I will need to fully engage in everything I do inside and outside of the classroom. This includes stepping outside of my comfort zone and expanding my horizons. Things I'm most excited by right now:

-UTOP experience
-Meeting new people
-Being Beautiful
-Beginning College
-Creating memories that will last forever-Pursuit of Greatness/Success

Things that I'm anxious about:
-New city
-Making friends
-What my future holds?

I'm still undeclared in terms of major and don't want to pick one until I'm sure what I really want to do. When I pick my major it will be in something that really interests me and also pushes me to use my ingenuity and eventually help me take over the world. Questions that keep running through my head are:

Am I going to be successful?
What does my future hold?
Do I have what it takes?
What separates me from the next college student?

One thing that I can tell Ms. Ingram and the class that makes me unique is that I plan to take over the world!!!
